A centralised database beats any consensus model hands down though in terms of energy usage. I don't consider ripple to have consensus or decentralisation. Its also way down the list on coinmarketcap. Nano is the big contender that I do not know the energy usage on. Hashgraph has been languishing in closed source land, and I wouldn't trust it with money because of that. Dpos your right on, that is more efficient than tangle, but just like Dpow it is vulnerable to a few servers being seized or hacked. Against Dpow we are more efficient but Dpow isn't really as strong a consensus. I still think tangle is more efficient than PoS in many conditions though. I said earlier that PoS was efficient, and possibly as efficient as tangle. Against PoS, People still have to validate the blocks. That leaves Dpos, Pos, Dpow, hashgraph, and nanos lattice. Think about is like this- all PoW block chains are guaranteed less efficient than iota. OK numerous people are pointing and saying that iota is not the greenest crypto. I hope this satisfies both of your issues. I would suggest to /u/ma0za that not everyone has the same background, and immediately putting others on the defense may not help get your point across. I would suggest to /u/Serialnvestor to watch the absolute statements and to be mindful of one's own ignorance. There are others though, which is /u/ma0za's original point. You of course wouldn't see that he is bringing up cryptos other than btc/eth and double-downed on iota still being the better of the two. Iota is one of the more eco-friendly cryptos and nobody disagrees, and you are right in sharing this with others, but his point is that there are others that probably do it marginally better so your claim is not factually correct, or at least not backed up to his satisfaction. However, his colorful language in making his point put you in a defensive mindset. Basically /u/ma0za has an issue with your language of making an absolute claim without evidence because he has some deeper knowledge into the subject of eco currencies. Clear communication would have probably satisfied both of your intentions. Sigh, this whole thread is disappointing.
